Listen Up, Barletta Supporters!

One of the things I’ve noticed since putting up this website is that many (most even?) of Lou Barletta’s supporters are just as single minded as Barletta himself. Almost from the day this site has gone live, I’ve been bombarded by comments and emails from people who seem to think that because I am against Lou Barletta’s run for Congress, that I am somehow a “bleeding heart liberal” or in favor of “open borders.” Sigh.

First off, I am not a “bleeding heart liberal”. I am a registered Republican and have been since 1999. I’ve served four years in the United States Army and am a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 509. I am thrilled that the Republican party has selected John McCain as our candidate for the presidency and I look forward to voting for him in November.

Second, I am not a Paul Kanjorski supporter. I have said as much from the beginning. I am against Lou Barletta. I believe that his extremist immigration policies and lack of any type of positions on any other issue is just what the Republican Party does not need. He is a weak candidate with a solid track record of failure. If he were, by some miracle, elected, it would not be a good thing for the party. Yes, a Democrat would have lost his seat, however, it would be filled by a weak, small minded fool. Oh, and the Democrats will still have a majority.

Also, I am not an “open borders” supporter. I do believe that we need a strong immigration policy. However, the one being advanced by Barletta is unrealistic. It was, very quickly, ruled unconstitutional by a Federal Court. Also, Barletta’s immigration policy flies in the face of those being put forward by President George W. Bush and John McCain. What Barletta and many of his supporters are too close minded to realize (or in some cases simply to stupid to comprehend), is that Lou Barletta’s immigration policy is NOT the only one being proposed. The mainstream leaders (i.e. the President and John McCain) of the Republican Party both have immigration policies far superior to Barletta’s.

Hopefully, in time, many of Barletta’s followers will realize that both they, and the candidate who they so blindly support, are out of touch with the Republican Party, the state of Pennsylvania, and with the United States as a whole. That is why none of the Presidential candidates wanted anything to do with Lou Barletta. That is why Lou Barletta can’t raise ANY money for his campaign. That is why Lou Barletta lost the Congressional election the last time he tried to run (in 2002). And that is why I am so opposed to Lou Barletta’s candidacy for the Congress this time around.

If you run a blog, or post a comment to this blog, and you don’t have the courage or backbone to post your real name along with your blog or comment, then please don’t get upset should I choose to completely ignore what you are ranting about. If you want to criticize me and this website, fine. However, try and have the dignity, class, and courage to put your name to what you say. If I can do it, hopefully you can, too. Thanks.

You have got to be kidding…..Of course you think McCain’s immigration plan is good. Typical Pretend Republican. By the way thanks for the regurgitation on Lou. We can see liberal written all over you….and this blog. Quit pretending and tell us who you really are Dan. Also I don’t share personal info with just any liberal rant site. Keep up the good work. Nice touch addressing your blog post to your whole 2 readers…..lol :)

I like that you used the word rant in this post. ; )

  3. Enigma Says:

A kind of cosmic balance, wouldn’t you agree?

  4. Enigma Says:

Zen, I take it that you are anti-Barletta as well? Are you a pretend-republican to go along with it? Or do you have the courage to admit your leftward leanings? I could be wrong…..Hmmmm.

enigma, I am for Mayor Lou 100%. Then again, as I have posted on my own blog, I would vote for a turnip before kanjo.

You support John McCain, that makes you a Democrat and not a Socialist.

The fact that I don’t use my name has NOTHING to do with the fact that I don’t stand by what I say. If you we’re half as smart as you claim, you could have gotten my COMPLETE information from whois.net. Since then, I’ve made it private to hide personal information from unstable people. (not saying you are one)

Next, if you don’t support Lou then by default you support Paul, simple as that. Are you voting for someone else in this contest ?

The Bush imigration policy IS nothing more that 100% amnesty and it IS feasible to march every illegal out of this country. Why that doesn’t happen..federal government doesn’t enforce the laws o nthe books. Why ? In bed with big bisiness. Barletta was just trying if anything to get the federal government motivated to do their f***ing job. It seems to have worked..a little.

Lou was blown off by 2 Socialists and a Democrat, hardly says anything other than they’re afraid to lose any Latino votes.

    Nice try Cheecks.

I have spent some time tonight reading all that you are trying to do, and the vicious things being thrown your way. I applaud your effort, even though our politics are quite different. I agree that we need to stop the candidacy of fear and hatred in this country. I will listen to anyone who can deliver his or her speech in a sane reasonable tone. But like most Americans I am tired of the bully tactics and hate mongering. The scapegoating of poor and under educated people. Yes we need a boarder policy that works and we need to tailor that policy to all parts of this country. But the disgusting practices that Barletta tried to Grand Stand in PA were an embarrassment to all. I no longer vote in PA, having moved many years ago, but I watch with interest what happens there and I am glad to see that some people in that area can still think with their heads.
